Scholarship Resources

It is no secret that higher education is and will continue to become more expensive. Due to this, scholarships can make or break the school you attend. Below is a comprehensive list of resources related to what scholarships are available to refugees as well as how to apply and increase your chances of being awarded them.

If you have any questions regarding scholarships that may apply to you specifically, please feel free to set up a one-on-one guidance consultation with us through our “contact” page.

In-State Tuition Chart

Although paying for college can be very expensive, some US states have passed legislation allowing refugees to access in-state tuition. Higher Ed Immigration Portal offers a great comprehensive chart for refugees to see which states offer in-state tuition and to what level.

Federal Application for Free Student Aid (FAFSA)

FAFSA can be a great way to help pay for college, but it can get somewhat complex. You can apply for FAFSA online through their website. It is important to know, though, that eligibility for refugees is different than for other students. Click here to find out about requirements for non-citizens. We also want to point out that FAFSA offers different kinds of aid such as grants (which do not need to be paid back), loans (which do need to be paid back with interest), and work-study programs (do not need to be paid back directly but requires you to work).
